Adriana Garcia

Adriana Garcia Martinez has been working with Thomson Reuters as a journalist for the past ten years in Latin America. She started at the company as Online Subeditor in 1999 in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and became Head of the Portuguese Language service in 2006, managing a team of over 20 people. After that, she became Latin Affairs Correspondent in Washington D.C., covering Latin American Political and General News from the U.S. Capital for Thomson Reuters and for Latinos, an immigration issues publication in Portuguese, Spanish and English. She holds a Master's degree from the University of Sao Paulo.

Daniel Arancibia

Daniel Arancibia works as Latin American and the Caribbean Forest Coordinator for the World Wildlife Fund, with primary focus on the implementation of strategies for the sustainable use of the natural resources. To that effect, Mr. Arancibia manages the regional WWF Global Forest and Trade Network to create a market reward for responsible forest managers.  He is part of WWF's  work on mahogany, a CITES listed species, and WWF work in the Atlantic forests, where endangered species as the jaguar, are found.

Before joining WWF, Mr. Arancibia worked for the Forest Stewardship Council, focusing in the promotion of responsible forest practices in Latin America and the Caribbean. In 2003, as FSC's Director in LAC, Mr. Arancibia led the establishment of FSC's LAC Regional Office in the Republic of Panama and continued the organization's programmatic implementation in 15 countries in the region (Argentina, Chile, Uruguay, Brazil, Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, Guyana, Panama, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Honduras, Guatemala and Mexico.

Mr Arancibia holds a B.S in Forestry with specialization in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Quality Management (qualification as ISO 9001:2000 Lead Auditor)

His areas of expertise include tropical forests management, eco-region-based conservation, forest certification and multi-stakeholder standards setting.

Mr. Arancibia was awarded with WWF'S Prince Bernard Scholarship in 1999. 

Johanna Carrillo

Johanna Carrillo, Director of the International Journalists' Network (IJNet at www.ijnet.org) at the International Center for Journalists (ICFJ at www.icfj.org) in Washington, D.C. Carrillo manages the IJNet's staff and coordinates the development of the Web site and future initiatives. She also assist the program staff on the development and implementation of training programs for Latin American journalists.

Formerly, she worked as an associate producer on Televisión Nacional de Chile, TVN (2002-2003), and a project manager and field producer at JL Producciones in Santiago, Chile (2000-2002). She has a B.S. in journalism from the Universidad del Desarrollo, Concepción, Chile. She is a native Spanish speaker, fluent in English and Portuguese and proficient in French.
